NB. the photography seen here may vary in colour as we shoot in a natural daylight studio where lighting conditions are always changing. The images are not photoshopped, this is done to give you a wide range of images to view showing the artwork in changing natural daylight, as in real life.

The burnt wood frame is imperfect, minor deviations in the frame should be expected and are in fact designed into the piece to create an authentic vanitas artwork in every way.

  • Vanitas fine art prints

Re-visiting the works of the 17th century Dutch Masters using period props, food and real insects including butterflies that I beed myself. Each carefully staged underwater scene is captured in-camera without the use of post production, either traditional or digital. Working with subtle distortions of light & movement from the waters own wave energy to create a unique and painterly effect. The subjects appear as if to be floating in a black space that neither interferes nor disrupts the subject matter, the collaboration within this void offering a serene and dreamlike sensation.

The quality and purity of the process are at the core of my work, attempting to engage with the most personal of realisations - brutal yet divine. The subtle yet pervading presence of water in these works symbolises its power to to give life as well as destroy it, whilst serving as the functional device through which I achieve the mesmerising painterly effect that distinguishes these artworks.
