Astronomers have used spinning stars called pulsars to create a galaxy-sized gravitational wave detector revealing the presence of ripples in space-time across the entire universe.

Cymatic experiments emulate the process with the study of wave phenomena. Created using physics, photography, liquid and light without the use of CGI, AI or any other form of digital production.

  • Cymatic Water + Light

A unique collection of framed photographic works that explore the physics of liquids & cymatic waves with experiments that emulate the study of Einstein's gravitational wave phenomena. These works are created using physics, photography, liquid and light alone without the use of CGI, AI or any other form of digital production.

Gravitational waves were detected for the first time on earth by the LIGO (USA) & VIRGO (Italy) observatory scientists on June 28th 2023 a phenomenon predicted by Albert Einstein's 1916 'theory of general relativity'.

Astronomers have used spinning stars called pulsars to create a galaxy sized gravitational wave detector, revealing the presence of ripples in space-time across the entire universe.

At certain frequencies, the waves resonate perfectly to create Faraday or standing waves. This is where the waves line up so well, the liquid takes on a pattern that doesn't appear to move; but what is interesting is the order, the connections and active link formations, almost like seeing electricity travelling through a circuit. functional and alive with ordered physics.

    PRODUCTION NOTES..
Each piece is released as a single unique darkroom print, no editions are ever to be released. Each print is printed in the darkroom & framed by the artist. Large circular works are in a 'Vortex' round frame taking on the form of a black hole; It is solar 3d printed from recycled PLA. Small round works are also in a 'Vortex' frame but made from ceramic. Non circular works are framed in a Shou Sugi Ban chemical free and naturally harvested cedar wood.

Sold direct from the artists studio with an encrypted NFC provenance tag, scan to verify the authenticity of the work directly with your mobile - no special app required. The artwork and its signature biometrics are recorded in Catalogue Raisonné, this data is revealed on scanning the NFC tag on the back of the artwork..
