Gravitational Wave Photographic series that visualises Einstein's General Theory Of Relativity

Plate No. 0173, dated June 2023.

I am thrilled to be able to announce the print release from 'Cymatic Water & Light', the series beautifully demonstrates gravitational waves as detailed in Einstein's 1916 'General Theory Of Relativity'. Now with verifying data released by Nasa, this exciting area of scientific research is being dramatically expanded in scope to further our understanding of the universe.

This series was completed 'in camera', meaning there was no post production or digital creation such as AI or CGI, these works are created using nothing other than pure physics, liquid & light. Cymatic waves in fact emulate gravitational waves in many ways and allowed me to visualise these complex theories in a new and exciting way. I hope you enjoy the work.

As in the past I have designed a framing option that perfectly compliment the works. One is a solar 3D printed 'Vortex' round frame made of recycled PLA plastic, a design that emulates the gravitational pull of a black hole. The other frame is made of sustainably harvested cedar wood, it is axe felled & air dried in the forest and prepared in the traditional Japanese Shou Sugi Ban burning process finished in shellac. Both frames are chemical & carbon neutral and every stage is fabricated by my own hand in the studio, a process I find deeply satisfying. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

With the framing complete I am able to release the PDF catalogue of works, each is a unique photographic print with no editions ever to be released. The text is in conversation with curator & writer Paul Carey-Kent titled 'From water to the universe'.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

These works are available for rights managed licensing, you can view the whole collection of over 1000 images here on the UnderWaterImageLibrary.com

Each piece is unique with only one print, plus 2 artist proofs, each a different size and framing execution; a
vailable works can be found here, with a richly illustrated catalogue with augmented reality enabled so you can view on your chosen wall from any mobile phone is available here.

If you are interested in the science behind the series, you will find in depth explorations and explanations on the core Distil Ennui journal here.
